Wed Jan 6th Wellesbourne airport - Hunscote lane 3.7 miles CHANGE!!

This is a change from the Luddington ramble advertised in Info.

There were flood alerts for stretches of the river Avon on which we would have walked. Please reply, confirming you have received this email, even if you don't intend to come. David will ring those who do not reply.

Wellesbourne airport - Hunscote lane 3.7 miles

We have chosen this because it is suitable for the current weather. It is mostly narrow country lane. We return the same way so it is possible to shorten the walk, if some of you wish, and return the way you came. It is a very nice easy walk. The only stile can be avoided. If windy there is not much protection.

The parking place is a few meters from the airport cafe. Filter coffee 1.50. Tea 80p. Home made cake 1.75. Brian and I will be going there afterwards. Please join us.

Leaders Derek and Brian

Directions
Take the A429 from Warwick around Barford. Turn right signposted Charlecote. Continue straight. Turn into the Overflow parking for the airport on the left. Park on the roadside on the right hand side of the car park.  If you reach Hunscote lane on the right you have gone too far.

Wednesday Oct 21st - Norton Lindsey circular - 4.2 miles

Brian and I have recce'd the walk on a beautiful day. It is a very pleasant walk, undulating and with very good views of the Warwickshire countryside. No steep hills. It is mostly country lane or good wide track. There are only 3 stiles all in the last half mile or so of the walk. Anyone who wished to do so could miss them out by taking a short cut down a road. The lady at Gun Powder cottage has chutney for sale.  Proceeds go to charity! Don't bother scrumping her apples. They are cookers.

Ufton - Stoneythorpe hall 6.5 miles - Wed 15th April

Bob's piece of string was a bit short. The walk was about 6.5 miles not 5.5 miles as I told people at the end. My satnav had stopped recording for about a mile in the middle of the walk. Technology!

It was good to be out on a nice day without too much wind. The mud was not excessive.
