There have been 2/3 incidents recently on rambles where ambulances have been called. WDU3A are thinking about the best procedures to follow. I wonder, if you have a smart phone, you could download OS Locate app (info below) and let me know what you think. Often we don't know the postcode when on a ramble. No need to ring for an ambulance!!!!

The West Midland ambulance service can use a grid reference as well as a postcode to find you in an emergency.
Ring 112 on your mobile or 999
Give the map reference of where you are in the form AB XXX XXX where A and B are letters and the Xs are numbers.
Example. SP 244 545
If you have a smart phone a quick way to find the map reference of where you are standing is to use the app OS
locate produced by the Ordnance Survey. Use your smartphone to download OS Locate from Google
Play or from the link just below.

When you open OS Locate it simply displays your map reference. It can also act as a compass.
